How Does an Instant Hot Water Boiler Work?

Cooleraid • 17/12/2021

Everyone wants to save money, and in this economic climate, that’s even more important for businesses. A really simple way to save money on your energy bills as well as maximise your staff productivity is to install an instant hot water boiler in your office kitchen. Hot drinks are an essential part of keeping your staff going all day long. It seems simple but imagine working a long hard day in the office without access to a regular cup of tea or coffee to boost not only your energy but also your morale.

Most people understand this, and their staff will have access to a kettle at work. But let’s say that you or your employee wants to make a hot drink. You put the kettle on to boil the kettle, stand around and wait the 4-6 minutes it takes for that to happen and then prepare the drink. Typically, this routine is repeated at least three times a day, so fifteen minutes a day per staff member is lost to just making hot drinks. Your business just lost productivity, not to mention electricity! A kettle is a power-hungry, wasteful device that heats water from cold to hot every time it’s used.

A reliable source of boiling water is probably as important as a fully functioning computer system in terms of keeping your staff happy and your business running, so it is well worth considering the advantages of a hot water dispenser over a kettle.

Kettles waste a huge amount of energy, especially in an office, often being switched on repeatedly throughout the day. In contrast, hot water boilers save electricity and money through more efficient use of energy. And if you’re uneasy about the amount of time your staff are spending hanging around the kitchen waiting for the kettle to boil, then a hot water boiler offers a fantastic alternative to minimise this loss in time and productivity. Instant water dispensers give you and your employees instant access to boiling water.

What’s the difference between a hot water dispenser and a hot water tap?

Both hot water boilers and hot water taps offer a safer way to dispense water than using a kettle, with water being dispensed via a tap or a push button. Hot water boilers can be wall mounted or freestanding on a counter top, making it easier to dispense boiling water, and lowering the chances of accidents and spillages. You could also opt for an instant hot water tap. These are installed near your sink and the major benefit of these is that they take absolutely no space on your countertop, so they’re a great option for small kitchens.

All hot water boilers and taps from Cooleraid are fitted with an advanced carbon block filtration system to remove 99.99% of bacteria, impurities and chlorine and an ion exchange, resin scale reduction filter to remove limescale, resulting in a better tasting and safer hot drink. We all need to be thinking about energy efficiency. Not just for our profits, but also for our environment. So, it’s worth knowing that our boilers are also made from 95% recyclable material!

Inside our instant hot water boilers is a hot water element, that only heats from cold to hot once. When the heat sensors within the boiler detect a drop in temperature of only 1 degree C the boiler boosts the temperature quickly to get it back to the optimum operating temperature. This is how it keeps the water at a constant hot temperature minimising the use of energy and electricity. When water is used the boiler slowly drip feeds water back into the internal reservoir applying the same principle. Once the temperature of the water drops by 1 degree, it stops filling until the temperature is back up to 96 degrees and then repeats the process. This means that you are never in a position where the water isn’t hot enough for that much needed hot drink. Because they have such a fast refresh rate, even a small 5 litre boiler system can deliver 28 litres of boiling water per hour. That’s the equivalent of 106 mugs!
