Whilst in Blantyre, Lifelife Fund co-ordinator John Searle stopped at a garage to repair one of the Lifeline vehicles. The owner of the garage recommended mechanic Jonas Sanokea to carry out the work, claiming he is his “best mechanic” and is “never late, very reliable, knowledgable and a steady worker.”
John waited patiently whilst Jonas repaired the vehicle and it was clear to see he knew what he was doing. Once he finished Jonas turned around, and asked John if he recognised him. He explained “I was one of your first students! You paid my school fees as an orphan, and then paid for my training!”
As a result of the Lifelife Fund, Jonas is now a fully-trained mechanic able to support a family of his own, and we were delighted to learn he is engaged to be married in August of this year!
At Cooleraid, we will never tire of hearing stories like this. We want to give children the correct opportunities to ensure they lead a happy life like Jonas. Every penny is put to good use so if you are interested in helping, please contact John Searle on 01223 276710.
